The quick answer

Use the airport light rail plus metro when you can manage transfers and the last walk. Compare the limousine bus for a hotel near a listed stop, especially with luggage. Consider a taxi for a difficult final leg or a group. Choose by the actual hotel address and the next departure, not a generic “Busan city centre.”

Quick comparison

Option Best fit Verified information or booking check
Light rail + metro Manageable luggage, rail-friendly hotel Airport Station → Sasang → Line 2
Seomyeon/Bujeon limousine Hotel near its route Published fare ₩6,000; credit card only
Haeundae/Gijang limousine Hotel near a served stop Published fare ₩9,500; credit card only
Taxi Direct drop-off, group or difficult walk Quote/meter, tolls and luggage capacity

Rail: choose the transfer by destination

From Airport Station (공항역), use the Busan–Gimhae Light Rail toward Sasang (사상) for a Line 2 connection. Seomyeon, Gwangan and Haeundae are on Line 2. For Nampo or Busan Station, a common route continues to Seomyeon and transfers to Line 1. Save the complete route with the direction and exit in your map app.

KTO’s airport guide gives approximate journeys of 30 minutes to Seomyeon, 50 minutes to Gwangalli and 70 minutes to Haeundae. Treat these as broad orientation, not a hotel arrival promise: add immigration, baggage, train waiting, transfers and the final walk. The guide itself notes that its information can change.

A light-rail fare alone is not the full rail-plus-metro fare. Check the combined journey and payment method using the official operator tools or station machines. We have not verified a current end-to-end fare for every destination and do not present an old fare as a new quote.

Limousine bus: current published fare and departure anchors

Gimhae Airport’s transport page lists the Seomyeon/Bujeon bus at ₩6,000 and Haeundae/Gijang at ₩9,500, credit card only. It lists Platform 3 on the first floor at both terminals. For Seomyeon/Bujeon, the displayed domestic-terminal departures span 07:20–21:30; for Haeundae/Gijang, the international-terminal list spans 07:10–21:40.

Those times use different terminal references. Check your own terminal’s departure and the destination of that exact bus. Not every Haeundae service continues to Gijang. The airport’s table contains route-specific departures; do not infer a constant frequency from a single interval label. Recheck on the travel day.

A bus can be worth the higher fare if its stop avoids carrying luggage through transfers. Conversely, a long wait may erase the advantage. Compare “next bus plus final walk” with “next train plus transfers.” Ask the airport desk which stop serves the hotel’s Korean address.

Taxi: compare a vehicle total, not a per-person headline

Save the Korean street address and hotel phone number. At the designated taxi stand, confirm the vehicle can take all passengers and bags, then ask about the meter or agreed quote and whether tolls or other charges are additional. Do not assume a standard car fits four adults with four large suitcases.

Illustrative calculation, not a taxi quote: if your actual all-in vehicle quote is ₩48,000, three people pay ₩16,000 each. Compare that with all three bus fares and any onward trip from the stop. A more expensive vehicle can still make sense for luggage or mobility; it is not automatically the fastest in traffic.

Choose the final leg before the cheap option

For Haeundae or Gwangalli, verify the station-to-door walk rather than assuming “near the beach” means near a rail exit. Read Haeundae vs Gwangalli if you are still deciding on the base. For a mixed stay, use the first-trip Busan hotel guide.

Late landing? Check both the light rail and connecting metro, not just the airport departure. For an early flight, work backward from the airline’s check-in deadline, adding the complete hotel-to-terminal trip. Confirm return-direction stops and timetables separately; arrival information is not a departure plan.

Before you go

Do the return journey backward from the airline deadline

Write the airline’s actual check-in or bag-drop cutoff first, then subtract your complete hotel-to-terminal travel, waiting and a buffer suitable for your situation. Do not substitute flight departure time for the check-in deadline. Save the airport-bound stop and terminal, even if you used a different stop when arriving.

Illustration: if your target terminal-arrival time is 07:00 and your chosen route needs 70 minutes plus 20 minutes of waiting and walking, leaving at 06:00 is already too late; those assumptions require 05:30. This is planning arithmetic, not a timetable. Verify a service actually operates at the calculated time; otherwise use another arrangement.

Continue planning

For two sightseeing days, follow the coast-and-old-town itinerary. If the arrival airport is undecided, compare Incheon vs Gimhae, then gather the city decisions in the Busan collection.
